BioPixS Ltd. was born as a spin-out of UCC (University College Cork) in May 2020 from the idea of co-founder and CEO Sanathana Konugolu. After having developed a wide knowledge in the field of biophotonics, he realized there was a gap in the availability of phantoms, essential for any laboratory in the field. Thanks to the know-how built-in years of work in academics, he was able to set up a successful start-up BioPixS Ltd together with prof. Stefan Andersson-Engels and David McGovern. BioPixS has soon become a worldwide reference point for all most important actors in the biophotonics field, including prestigious universities, public and private institutes.

Why are BioPixS phantoms unique? Because they show unique features:

1) Manufacturing: BioPixS provides highly reliable, reproducible phantoms, by using a highly stable well-validated, mastered over years phantom manufacturing process.

2) Characterization: BioPixS provides absorption and scattering characterization using high-performance time-domain diffuse optical spectroscopy (TDDOS), as experts in TDDOS with decades of mastery over the characterisation method which adds robustness and reliability. Included in services, is custom wavelength of choice characterisation in the range 450-1000 nm.

3) Traceability: BioPixS has customers who are leading research institutes across 9 countries so far, meaning research with BioPixS phantoms can be traceable with this networks of institutes as all manufacturing and characterisation is done centrally by BioPixS lab in the same reliable way.
